a distant memory, a thought, which quickly fades away...

born in the bustling city of thael'torel, moriadel had a simple childhood for the beginning of it. for ten years, they were the only child----until their parents decided to expand the family, and quickly mori became an afterthought, forgotten in a flurry of six young children. for the rest of their adolescence, mori was all but invisible, learning to care for and entertain themself, forever wondering why they weren't enough for their parents, in the end.
as soon as they were grown and able, mori slipped out into their own life, moving to arvandel to escape the city and pursue a life of art. they left behind a note, and sent regular letters, but for the most part became their own family, never returning to thael'torel.
during their time studying to be a bard, mori found they had an affinity for music and poetry, and decided to focus on storytelling, the college of lore. through these studies, they made a close group of like-minded friends, and this group went on to form their own bard group. forever changing and tweaking their troupe name, they eventually settled on 'the regaled raconteurs,' though half of the group was still dissatisfied. the raconteurs became a new family for mori, and upon their graduations, they began preparing their own material, planning plays and musical acts to start their lives as performers.

oh no soul, and no name, and no story, what a shame...
a call for mercenaries was the perfect opportunity to gain original stories. missing miners, lost to the shadows. only mori and two others answered the call. but the call led to the shadowfel, to the grips of an owl-wolf-monster, toying with them. mori and their friends fell victim to a butcher, and mori watched from death as their body was consumed, ripped to bloody pieces.

the raven queen offers a bargain. kill your traitorous friend, save the dreamer, keep the shadowfel contained. she offers to make mori and their companion brixley into her servants in exchange, save them from an afterlife in the shadowfel. there's nothing to do but agree. and after it's done, mori begs: let me stay on the mortal plane. let me go home, and be your bard there. i'll tell the people of your mercy, i'll warn them of what's to come. the raven queen agrees. mori, grey-haired and pallid, goes home----and lives their immortal undeath spreading omens, putting on plays of horror and darkness, where there is a raven at the end of every path, beckoning you to safety.

before their death, mori was a fun-loving sort, laid back but willing to offer a jab or go on a random adventure. now, there is a gloomy air about them, and all of their art is like omens---though they try to keep hold of their essence, and remember who they are despite who they've become.
